Three Men in a Boat.

£14.99

Product description

Originally published in August, 1889, this enormously popular book was reprinted year after year up to March 1909 when this second edition was issued, and the opportunity was taken to reset the letterpress in new type an to re-engrave (from the originals) the whole of the drawings.

Condition is described as 'good'  because having been well read, the book has attracted a high level of soiling marks and general wear. The cover has a range of marks plus rubbing wear to all edges and spine titles; corners are bumped and are worn with some fraying, and spine ends have bumping cracks, chips and fraying. Text block edges are dust soiled with areas of light foxing and end papers are discoloured. Many page margins have finger marks, however, all text and illustrations are clearly legible. There is a paper-break at pp 32/33 but the binding is sound. A former owner's name is neatly written with the date Xmas 1910 at the top of the half-title.

Although this book has its physical defects one can certainly delight in the humorous adventures of the three men in their boat (to say nothing of the dog) and be charmed by the numerous illustrations and engravings of A Frederics.
