Fifteenth-Century England, 1399-1509

£5.99

Product description

This volume comprises papers presented at the first conference on aspects of English history in the fifteenth century, which took place in Cardiff in autumn 1970 under the auspices of the University of Wales and of University College, Cardiff. The general purpose of the papers is to review and extend the knowledge of seven different themes which fall under the broad heading of politics and society. The first four papers are devoted to studies of the reign of the four kings whose governments did most shape the domestic history of the century. Following these chronological studies, three papers focus on themes of fundamental significance for the century as a whole: one paper examines the all-important parts played by the magnates and gentry in politics and society; the other two concentrate on the regional politics manifested respectively in the northern parts towards Scotland and in the western parts towards, and in, Wales.
Ex-library book in good condition. Maroon cloth boards and spine in very good condition. Gilt lettering to spine. Tight binding, no loose pages. The dust jacket has a few minor tears and rubbed edges and is slightly discoloured in the spine. Edges slightly toned and starting to show some signs of foxing. Contents clean with no marks or inscriptions other than the usual library stamps/stickers.
