This is a set of 3 volumes - Vol. III, IV and V. Published in 1974 this set is in good condition throughout with no markings on the pages. There are black and white photographs throughout the 3 Vol.

Vol III - Social and Industrial Life - A look at the living and working conditions of the less well off members of society, what was done to help them by organizations, what they did in their spare time, always assuming they had some.

Vol IV - Times of Change - The fourth volume covers the opening years of the 20th century - 1901 to 1918.

Vol V - The Inter War Years. The fifth volume covers a period that has left an unpleasant taste and bitter memories for some people. The photographs show Manchester between 1918-1938 at a time when Britain was trying to find a new role in a radically changed world.
