Merchant Sailing Ships 1815-1850

£30.00

Product description

Published in 1984 this book is in very good condition throughout.  The jacket is in good condition - the only issue with it is that there is slight creases to the top and bottom edges.

This book is part of a three volume series entitled Merchant Sailing Ships.  This volume follows on from the author's Merchant Sailing Ships 1775-1815, and traces the important innovations like iron construction which were beginning to alter sailing ship design after centuries of relative stagnation.

As with his previous books, the author's comparative analysis of ship-types is complemented by a full portfolio of plans and halftones, including some very rare early photographs.
