Pilots - The World of Pilotage Under Sail and Oar - Vol 2. Schooners and Open Boats of The European Pilots and Watermen

£45.00

Product description

Overall very good condition with only a tear to bottom left hand corner of the front dust jacket. and slight bumping to the inside back fly leaf of dust jacket.

The first volume of pilots concentrated on the stories of American and British schooners. Volume 2 enters what for many will be a less familiar world, that of the European pilot schooners, the remarkable pilot brigs of the Hooghly and the small, undecked craft of many of the less famous but equally important, services. The schooners in this volume range from the Hiates of Portugal to the beautiful station boats of the North Sea ports of Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium and France.
