Selection of Modern Tramway magazine from the 1960s

£18.99

Product description

This is a selection of 12 issues of the Modern Tramway and Light Railway Review from May 1963 to April 1966. These magazines contain news articles and opinion pieces on the topic of light railway across the UK.  There are numerous black and white photos of trams, illustrating the articles. At both the beginning and the end of the magazines are adverts for services, subscriptions, and items related to the railway.

The issues included are:
May 1963
July 1963
August 1963
October 1963
December 1963
January 1965
March 1965
April 1965
July 1965
August 1965
January 1966
February 1966
April 1966

Also included is 'The Tramways of South Yorkshire and Humberside', a small publication by the Light Railway Transport League, who publishes the Review. This publication focuses on the trams of Yorkshire and the Humberside, as they were in and prior to the 1960s. It contains many black and white photographs of trams, as well as some maps of the area. It also lists specific models of trams and some of their technical specifications.

The magazines are in relatively good condition. The covers show some signs of wear, with some slight dark discolouration. All of the magazines are in one piece, and are free from pen, highlighter, or any other markings.

This collection would appeal to anyone interested in the history of the light railway service in Britain. It would also appeal to those interested in the social history of Britain, as the magazines reflect a particular time in history.
