With black-and-white photographs on every page and a few maps. This is a pictorial records of the Eleventh Hussars. Famous as a Balaclava Regiment they served Crown and Country for 254 years. For Publisher's full synopsis - see photo. They fought in the Peninsula War, Waterloo, the Crimea, Egypt, India, South Africa, France and Flanders 1914-18;North Africa, Italy and North West Europe in 1939-45, and also had a part in the Cold War during 1945-1969. The illustrations have been selected less to show the formal side of soldiering but to illustrate the daily life of a living cavalry regiment. INCLUDED - A letter (loose) from Lt. Colonel Peter Upton (author) to a Mrs. Dowdrey dated 1997 (see photo).
