Product description

The Small Army

Marshall, Michael

Good, read lightly, if at all. Very scarce title in any format. First edition, hardback in complete dustwrapper. DW complete and colours bright - not price-clipped, with some age-staining. DW spine lightly sunned and small amounts of shelfwear to edges. Rear DW panel a little foxed and age-stained. 2cm age spot to the back of the DW front panel. HB has neat gift inscription to ffep and small foxing spots to closed page edges. Otherwise, binding tight, pages are clean and bright. Maroon boards clean with bumped edges. All illustrations bound in.

First edition in this format. Young People's Edition, but no mention of edits to the original text. Smart hardback copy in beautiful condition. This rare book tells the true story of the pupils of Elizabeth College, Guernsey, evacuated during World War 2 to Derbyshire. A number of the boys formed their own secret army with the purpose of identifying German spies and preparing themselves for the day that they would return to Guernsey.
