Trees of Ghostly Dread by Elliott O'Donnell First Edition

£27.99

Product description

The fireside on a winter's night; such is the proper time and place for the telling of a good ghost story. But, whatever the circumstances, Elliott O'Donnell - 'Britain's No. 1 Ghost Hunter' - can always be relied upon to create that state of mind which causes many an apprehensive glance over the shoulder.
In this new volume of over fifty tales the author turns his attention particularly to the subject of trees and forests and of the phantoms which haunt them. Trees, whether they stand alone on some lonely, windswept heath, or grow amid the gloom and silence of the forest, are singularly conducive to the propagation of ghostly legend. But the legend itself is invariably founded upon historical fact; an important point to bear in mind as Mr. O'Donnell once more leads us towards that twilight world where 'churchyards yawn and graves yield up their dead.'

A first edition copy in generally good condition - dust jacket poor. There is some evidence of light foxing to the fore-edge and endpapers, but otherwise the book is sound with tight binding and clean pages.
