Owner's signature in ink on ffep, small pencil line on one margin.The story of the Stalinist Communist Party vs Shostakovich, Prokofiev and their circle, and the position of the creative arts in Russia in general. Werth was a Russian-born (naturalised British), correspondent for The Guardian in Moscow for seven years, and was also a war correspondent there for the BBC.
