Violin

£15.99

Product description

Menuhin's manual on violin playing, originally published in 1971, has been as a major contribution to the study of the instrument. The book is designed as a practical course for use by both teachers and students. The six chapters take the violinist from the very earliest stages to advanced aspects of bowing and left-hand technique. central to each chapter is a progressive sequence of exercises, set out under comprehensive sub-headings, with descriptive analyses of the movements and sensations involved. These are reinforced by many illustrations and diagrams, which well serve Menuhin's principal purpose of concentrating attention on - and perfecting - the smallest movements so that the violinist can truly achieve the physical freedom and technical mastery that constitute the goal of every student player. Appendices set out useful hints on practising, on the upkeep of the instrument and bow, and a valuable series of daily exercise.
