Moore's Irish Melodies, Lalla Rookh, National Airs, Legendary Ballads, Songs, etc.

£49.99

Product description

One of Ireland's most celebrated and respected artists, Moore was a great poet, actor and singer and the beauty and poignancy of his work is evident here.

Contains Irish Melodies, National Airs, Lalla Rookh, Ballads, Songs etc., Legendary Ballads, Poems Relating to America, Evenings in Greece, Sacred Songs, The Loves of the Angels, and Juvenile Poems. The Prefatory Memoir is by John Francis Waller. There are 11 special engraving plates plus numerous other engraved illustrations in the text. Undated but possibly published c. 1870.

The book is half-leather bound with raised band on the spine. Corners and spine edges and ends are well worn with small loss and fraying; spine colour has faded and the title band is slightly frayed. The text block has gilt edges. Front and rear marbled end papers are cracked exposing stitching but the binding remains sound. There are noticeable foxing spots on end papers and some spots on early pages, plus a few occasional light stains.
