The English Lyric: A Poetical Anthology, XV-XIX Century (First edition, limited edition)

£39.00

Product description

Small hardcover with blue boards. Published by Editions de Visscher, Brussels. First edition, 1945; limited edition. Edited by Kenneth Hopkins.

H. Kenneth Hopkins (1914-1988) was a British poet, critic and mystery writer. He served in the armed forces during World War II. Later in life he taught English literature and creative writing at various American universities.

This collection of English poetry was designed for a French-speaking audience, with French translations of certain words under each poem.

Small hardback with dust jacket. One of our photographs includes a pen to show the diminutive size of this book.

The cover has some creases and tears, including one long tear at the spine mended with tape, and the pages are yellowed with age. The paper is poor quality as is to be expected of something published in Europe in 1945, but the book remains in very good condition.

This copy is number 555 of a limited edition.
