The Shepherds Calendar by John
Clare, illustrated by John Lawrence

London, Paradine 1978. Hardcover.

Condition: Fine. Limited Edition of 500 copies
of which this is number 215, signed by both illustrator and printer to the last
page. Quarter bound in green buckram over light green boards. Set in 14 point
Caslon type and printed on Velin Arches 160 gsm paper by the Whittington Press.
The 12 small black & white woodcuts heading each months poem, have been
printed from original woodblocks and laid in, covered with tissue sheets.
Slipcase is pale green to match the endpapers with pasted-on illustration to
match the endpapers of the book. Slight marking to slipcase. Comes with a 4pp
glossary supplied loose at front (this shows some slight discolouration).There
is an inscription to half title page. A beautiful volume in really nice condition.
