Newnes Pictorial Knowledge Volume 2

£11.99

Product description

This is one of a set of 11 volumes for older children and
focuses on the history of the western world and particularly Britain with
elaboration no doubt intended to increase the interest to young people. It
includes sections headed the "Romance of History" and "True Tales of High
Adventure" It is undated but was probably published in the 1950s. However,
earlier editions date from the 1930s and this is seen in the very western and
colonialist viewpoint taken in the stories. To some extent this volume is
interesting from that perspective alone.

The volume includes a large number of black and white
pictures within the text, 20 colour plates and 2 photo-tone supplements.

Good condition. Two tone red leatherette boards. Rubbing to
edges and corners.  Minimal damage otherwise. A few pages with coin
sized stains. Pages otherwise clean. Text and images bright and clear. Binding
sound. No dust jacket.
