The Oxford English Dictionary Second Edition (20 volume set)

£599.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

The twenty-volume Oxford English Dictionary is the unrivalled guide to the meaning, history and pronunciation of over 600,000 words, tracing their evolution from across the English-speaking world through 2.4 million quotations. Historical in focus, each of the OED's entries contains the word's earliest known use as well as later examples which help to plot the word's subsequent development in English. Its quotations are taken from a broad range of English-language sources, from classic literature and specialist periodicals to film scripts and cookery books. Elegantly designed for maximum legibility and printed to the highest standards on the finest quality paper, this set is a must-have for any reference library.

This particular set is the 1991 corrected version of the 1989 second edition, which remains the most current edition of the Dictionary.

Each hardback volume is bound in Oxford-blue cloth, stamped on the front cover with the logo of Oxford University Press, gilt-stamped on the spine with details of the volume, the edges decorated with an attractive blue speckled design, with a matching glossy dust jacket.

The entire set is as new except for some very light wear to the dust jackets and a 5mm tear to the dust jacket of Volume XIV at the top of the spine. The books themselves are pristine throughout.

The retail price for this set is £862.50 and we are therefore offering a significant discount. Our price includes the majority of the postage (which is estimated at £62) -- all you pay is our standard £3.95 postage charge for your entire order! Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any queries.
