Product description

Even Among These Rocks: A Spiritual journey - Steven D. Purcell

Carlisle: Piquant. First edition 2000. Non-paginated, probably 150-160, although the printing is to recto only and there are a dozen or so blank pages at the back.
Dust jacket in very good condition: a couple of marks on the front face and a little crinkling along the top edges. Otherwise just light shelf wear. The book may well have been a complimentary copy as there is no sign of pricing.

Orange cloth boards, perfect except for light sunning to the spine base (2mm). Brown titles to spine.
Fine text block on shiny pristine paper. Excellent binding, edges and corners etc.

Handwritten text throughout. Seven illuminating chapters of a generally Lent-based theme. Poetry and religious quotes in abundance, embellished with paintings of classical religious scenes in oils and watercolours; all very arty.

Preface by Presbyterian heavyweight Eugene H. Peterson.
An unusual book for the theology shelf. The author has an international reputation among theologists.

Wonder how this unique item ended up online?

Most of the second-hand items you see online have been donated, by supporters like you, to our high street stores. Each item is then priced, photographed and listed on this site by our amazing team of volunteers from across the country.

After you have bought your item, our team of volunteers package and dispatch it from the Shop straight to you or your chosen recipient.

All profits from the sales of our goods go towards funding Oxfam's work around the world. We rely on your donations to sell online so please keep the cycle of goodness going!

Oxfam Bookshop Market Harborough

Oxfam is the UK's largest second hand bookseller. Oxfam bookshops offer a wider selection of books than most shops, from modern fiction and leisure interest to more specialist subjects, classics, and rare or collectable books. We also stock an attractive range of greetings cards and a good selection of stationery. Come and browse!

Could you help us by collecting donations from donors homes? Our shop receives many offers of generous donations that we have to turn down as we do not have volunteers able to collect. We would ask you to collect in your own car, at your convenience and reimburse your petrol costs. It might be a couple of times a month and would make a really big difference to our ability to make money.
