HOLLYWOOD SCREEN SIRENS COLLECTION PG

£4.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

Triple-bill of classic Hollywood dramas, starring some of the silver screen's most famous actresses.

In 'A Place in the Sun' (1951), George Eastman (Montgomery Clift) is a young man from a poor background who goes to work at a factory owned by a rich relative. He begins a relationship with fellow worker Alice Tripp (Shelley Winters), but forgets about her when he meets and falls in love with beautiful socialite Angela Vickers (Elizabeth Taylor). However, just as his and Angela's future together seems secure, Alice discovers she is pregnant and demands that George marry her, setting in motion a tragic chain of events which will forever ruin George's hopes of finding a place in the sun.

In 'Roman Holiday' (1953), bored with Royal protocol while in Rome for an official engagement, Princess Anne (Audrey Hepburn) escapes her claustrophobic entourage in order to see what life beyond the castle is like. Down-at-heel American reporter Joe Bradley (Gregory Peck) is just one of many journalists vying for an interview, but he realises he has a major scoop on his hands when he meets the Princess and initially pretends not to know who she is. Roping in a photographer friend, Bradley takes her on a tour of Rome over 24 hours, all the while falling more in love with her.

In 'To Catch a Thief' (1955), Alfred Hitchcock directs Cary Grant as ex-cat burglar John Robie, who finds himself forced to prove his innocence after a spate of burglaries on the French Riviera. The only way he can clear himself is by catching the real thief, and his prime suspect is an aristocrat on holiday with her daughter Frances (Grace Kelly), with whom John finds himself falling slowly in love.
