Product description

BACH: 'Hunting' Cantata, (Jagd-Kantate), BWV208.
TELEMANN: 'Canary' Cantata, (Kanarienvogel-Kantate).

The 'Hunting Cantata' is Bach's first known secular cantata, written for the birthday celebrations in 1716 of Duke Christian of Saxe-Weissenfels. It tells the story of the goddess Diana, wooed by the handsome young shepherd Endymion, whom she rejects on this occasion in order to pay homage to Duke Christian - all unite to sing his praises!
