MENDELSSOHN

Mendelssohn wrote his 'Reformation' Symphony in commemoration of the tercentenary festival of the Augsburg Confession, on 25 June 1830. In the first movement he makes use of the 'Dresden Amen', also used by Wagner in the opera 'Parsifal'. The final movement quotes Luther's hymn 'Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott'.
