A Life of William Shakespeare by Sidney Lee

£14.99

Product description

Sir Sidney Lee (1859–1926) was a lifelong scholar and enthusiast of Shakespeare. This biography, first published in 1898, was an immediate popular success and was regarded for much of the twentieth century as the most reliable account of Shakespeare's life then available. This copy is the 5th edition, published in 1905 and was updated by the author. The copy is in very good condition for its age apart from foxing to the text block edges. The pages are hand cut and two pairs in the preface remain uncut, as do a pair in the index. The volume is bound in black with a gilt crest and motto on the front and gilt lettering on the spine. There is slight bumping to the corners and edges but much less than might be expected in such an aged volume.
All text is clearly legible.
