A New System of Domestic Cookery

£24.99

Product description

A New System of Domestic Cookery; Formed Upon Principles of Economy, and Adapted to the Use of Private Families
A Lady (Mrs Rundell), Halifax, 1860

A used hardback with original brown cloth boards complete with decorative patterns. This copy has clearly endured much since its original purchase: corners are bumped, back board ripped, spine sunned with tears at the top and the base, although the gilt lettering remains legible. Front and back linen hinges torn from pages, although the book is still holding together. Pages age-toned and foxed but otherwise complete and clearly legible.

A collection of recipes by Mrs Rundell originally intended for her daughters' families. Contains a wide variety of recipes, as well as cookery options for the sick and the poor.

Wonder how this unique item ended up online?

Most of the second-hand items you see online have been donated, by supporters like you, to our high street stores. Each item is then priced, photographed and listed on this site by our amazing team of volunteers from across the country.

After you have bought your item, our team of volunteers package and dispatch it from the Shop straight to you or your chosen recipient.

All profits from the sales of our goods go towards funding Oxfam's work around the world. We rely on your donations to sell online so please keep the cycle of goodness going!

Oxfam Bookshop Market Harborough

Oxfam is the UK's largest second hand bookseller. Oxfam bookshops offer a wider selection of books than most shops, from modern fiction and leisure interest to more specialist subjects, classics, and rare or collectable books. We also stock an attractive range of greetings cards and a good selection of stationery. Come and browse!

Could you help us by collecting donations from donors homes? Our shop receives many offers of generous donations that we have to turn down as we do not have volunteers able to collect. We would ask you to collect in your own car, at your convenience and reimburse your petrol costs. It might be a couple of times a month and would make a really big difference to our ability to make money.
