Alldays & Onions. A Brief History

£25.00

Product description

A history of Alldays & Onions Pneumatic Engineering Co Ltd., the oldest engineering business in Britain, commencing in 1625. Although it made a bewildering variety of products from humble bunsen burners to enormous fans, it is perhaps best remembered for its "Matchless" motorbikes and its cars, tractors, buses, trollybuses and cycles. Today the company no longer has its base in Birmingham, but its worthy successor, Alldays, Peacock & Co Ltd. continues to make fans in Weston-Super-Mare.

This heavily illustrated book has used primary sources to produce a fascinating record which will be of value to transport historians and enthusiasts as well as engineers and industrial historians. It also includes tables of chassis numbers of the cars they produced.

Dustjacket faded on spine, slightly shelf-bumped and with one very small tear to top edge. Red boards with gilt titles, worn at top edge. Internally very clean.
