By George! My childhood in Sheffield by George Cunningham

£8.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

'The Sheffield of my childhood had altered little for generations.  Steel and cutlery reigned supreme, the trams would run forever and motor cars would never catch on, or so I thought.  Now, where never a blade of grass could be seen, poppies and wild strawberries grow and a never-ending stream of traffic thunders over my mother's front room.  A modern computer plant stands on the cobbled lane where once the  Owd Foundry belched out it smoke, my school is still there, albeit the playground is a car park and our cricket pitch remains with the stumps intact'.
Beautifully illustrated with many colour and black and white sketches by George Cunningham, the book is in very good condition.  Inscription in pen on the front facing page.
