Cruchley's County Map of Lancashire (c. 1884)

£89.99

Product description

A charming map of the Red Rose county, printed in full colour on linen-backed paper, measuring approximately 50 x 58 cm. Scale 4 miles to 1 inch. The map is based upon the Ornance Survey map but "improved", showing railway routes and stations, railways under construction, boundaries of boroughs, polling places, and telegraph lines. Each county borough is highlighted in a different colour. Bound in cloth with an attractive colour cover illustration. The cover is rather worn around the edges, but is intact. The map itself is in excellent condition for its age, although the linen backing is grubby. This map would be perfect for framing and hanging on any proud Lancastrian's wall!

The map bears no date, however we have discovered that the map of Cumberland in the same series dates to 1884, so we presume that both maps are contemporaneous.
