A handsome complete set of this second, 8-volume Collected Works of the Lancashire poet and dialect author (1817-1890).

Undated, early 1890s. Dark blue cloth, gilt titles to spines and facsimile signatures to fronts, blind-stamped flower motifs to backs. Slightly edgeworn, a few small marks but overall clean and bright. Top edges browned and slightly roughly opened, scattered foxing to fore-edges of 2 volumes. Bindings firm. Owner name/date to ffep reverse in all but one vol., a little scattered foxing but otherwise internally unmarked. Titles: Besom Ben Stories; Chimney Corner; Lancashire Sketches Series One and Two; Poems and Songs; Rambles in the Lake Country; Tufts of Heather Series One and Two. All have b&w tissue protected frontis, plus title page vignette by Ralph Caldecott. Poems and Songs, and Rambles in the Lake Country also have b&w illus, and latter has foldout map to rear (small tear at insertion).
