Grand Military Concert

£70.00

Product description

This remarkable programme is from the Grand Military and Patriotic Concert, which was held on Tuesday 5th December 1899 at the Royal Albert Hall,  in aid of The Sick and Wounded, the Widows and Orphans, and the Families of our Troops Now Serving in South Africa. The concert was organised by Miss Elleline Terriss & Mr C.P. Little.

The programme is in remarkably good condition for its age with little signs of shelf wear apart from some fraying at the top of the cloth spine; the red, white and blue ribbon ties are still intact. The (cut) binding is still tight and the pages are clean and legible. There is slight foxing on the inside back cover.

At the front is a list of patrons facing a black & white photograph of Queen Victoria; this is followed by a 'List of Actresses Officiating as Hospital Nurses', a 'List of Actors Officiating as Stewards' and a black and white photograph of HRH The Duke of York. Following the main body of the programme are a series of colour illustrations, each of which is protected by a tissue paper cover. On the back cover is a message from Queen Victoria.
