Heinlein: Glory Road (1976 Rare First Hardback Edition)

£249.99

Product description

Imagine a situation where the most beautiful woman in the world approaches you on a beach and says, "You are beautiful". G I "Flash" Gordon, despite his broken nose and battle scars, is approached in just such a way, falls in love at first sight, and finds himself chosen to be a hero. He discovers himself fighting alongside the beautiful woman and a gnome-like creature who produces clothes, food, weapons -- everything -- from a small folding box. Together they overcome giant rats, horned monsters, and dragons, and treading on the Glory Road, they embark on a quest as hazardous as Jason's. When they eventually settle in another world, Gordon discovers that he has acquired a taste for adventure that cannot easily be ignored.

This is an extremely rare first UK hardback edition, the novel having been previously published in the USA in 1963 and in the UK in 1965, in paperback form. Bound in purple cloth with gilt stamping on the spine, the cover is as new except for some very light wear to the head and tail of the spine. Dust jacket price-clipped but otherwise immaculate; spine is not faded in the slightest. Some light foxing to the top, side, and bottom edges. Internally in perfect condition: binding tight; pages clean, white and undamaged throughout; gold endpapers bright and free from any inscriptions.
