HISTOIRE DE LA LITTERATURE FRANCAISE BY GUSTAVE LANSON

£29.99

Product description

Gustave Lanson, born on August 5, 1857 in Orléans and died on 15 December 1934 in Paris, was a French literary historian and literary critic who encouraged an objective and historical approach to the works. A major figure in the reform of the French university system, and of literary criticism until the middle of the 20th century, he was interested in social influences. He focused in particular on the dissertation and the explanation of text, helping to make these detailed and meticulous readings of extracts an educational exercise and an institution still in force in the teaching of letters. His History of French Literature (1894) has long been authoritative.

It's my understanding this could well be an 11th or 12th impression of the original work, though I stand to be corrected. As you'll see from the images, the book has seen better days but if you equate condition, ageing pages, poor binding state, separated frontispiece, to a collectors item then this one's for you. What i'm trying to say is that it'll look great on a bookshelf. And if that's not enough for you, it's all in french. là tu vas mec.

1266 pages, 20 cm x 13 cm x 7 cm
