Published circa 1879 (undated) by P W Ziegler & Co: Philadelphia. An enormous volume! Thick dark brown covers with deep channels from edges to middle and engraved panels. Elaborate decoration to spine. Faded and worn but originally with gilt text perhaps. Inside pages are age-tanned but clean. Pages edged with gilt. Binding is secure but the front end papers have separated from the frontispiece ('Presented to') page (see 3rd photo).

"Containing the Old and New Testaments, Apocrypha, Concordance and Psalms In Metre... with Dr William Smith's Dictionary of the Bible.....Embellished with over 2500 fine scripture illustrations."

Other supporting material includes: History of the Translation of the English Bible. History of the Denominations of the World. A Comprehensive Description of the Israelitish Tabernacle and its Sacred Furniture. History of the Books of the Holy Bible, The Cities and Towns of the Bible.
