This is one of Lilli Lehmann's books on singing, and its purpose is described in the preface: "My purpose is to discuss simply, intelligently, yet from a scientific point of view, the sensations known to us in singing, and exactly ascertained in my experience..." It is bound in red cloth boards with gilt lettering on the front cover and spine. The top edge is painted gold and the other edges are uncut. Condition: the boards show some mild marking and denting, and there is some moderate shelf-wear to the book's edges. There is a previous owner's inscription on the ffep. The interior pages are generally clean and bright, and the binding is strong overall.
