Light blue cloth with coloured picture and publishers cloth board covers, title black, front is lavishly decorated with stamped colour design, head has panel with 4 horsemen, with stylised tulips below. Spine title green on gilt panel, spine decorated in colour again with stylised tulips. Back cover self light green. All end papers age browned, FEP has prize sticker dated 1910, which is decorated with cyclamen flowers in colour. No separate inscription. 13cm x 19cm tall. 126pp. CR. Frontis. colour plate 'young boy showing his bruised arm to a servant girl'. Prelims and title page foxed. Illus. 4 colour plates. 8 pages of book adverts at rear, end fly paper foxed. Pages mainly clear, 108/109 have coin sized fox marks, otherwise some occasional foxing mainly to margins. Text is clear throughout. The story is set in Flanders in the 1300's, and tells of a young boy's ill treatment, and his efforts to find his real father, in the time of the Black Death plague in Europe. An exciting tale which follows the adventures the boy Gerard encounters. Tight copy, in good condition for year.
