Les Pensées

£29.99

Product description

The book is in good condition. The binding is good. The case is white, but has
greyed somewhat with wear. This is worst along the edges and the corners. The
red spine also has some dark scuffs, but the gold writing (Blaise Pascal * Les
Pensees) is unaffected. Both the front and rear pastedown have some yellow
staining (the rear is noticeably worse), as seen in the inner hinges where dust
seems to have accumulated. The fore-edges are faintly stained.

The slipcase is in fair condition. Corners and edges are particularly worn, and in
numerous places the black paper coating has rubbed off, revealing the board
underneath. It is generally lightly scuffed and marked. The silver text on the
spine (Blaise Pascal * Les Pensees) has been worn off in places, but is
predominantly visible. The structure, and inside of the slipcase is fine.

This is a rare and finely produced edition of the classic work of Blaise Pascal.

'The Pensées is a collection of fragments on theology and
philosophy written by 17th-century philosopher and mathematician Blaise Pascal.
Pascal's religious conversion led him into a life of asceticism, and the
Pensées was in many ways his life's work. The Pensées represented Pascal's
defense of the Christian religion.'
