£375.00

Product description

This rare monograph (published in 1927) is one of many publications by this Russian architect and art historian.  Each volume contains 40 loose leaf plates, and 3 pages of accompanying text.  At least 20 villas are illustrated.

George Kreskentevich Loukomski (1884-1952) was a Russian artist, art critic and art historian.  Born in 1884 Russia, one of an old noble family, Loukomski trained in the architectural department of the Kazan Art School (1901-1903), then in the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. He gained his reputation in the field of art criticism and art history, working in Russian journals as well as being a talented painter. After the Russian Revolution of 1917 he emigrated to Western Europe, continuing his work as art historian and artist, mainly focusing on architectural themes.
