Three volumes. Written by the author of a large number of books, which fall into two classes: biographies of members and connections of his family, and descriptive and historical accounts of various countries and cities. This is an account of his own life, starting with his earliest memories of his adoptive mother, which also covers his many travels to Europe and Asia.

All three volumes:
Black cloth-covered boards in half-bound style: spines have possibly been rebound. Gilt illustration to front and gilt text to spine. Various scuffs, marks and discolouration. Corners worn. Dark blue endpapers. Neatly inked gift inscriptions to flyleaves or opposite flyleaves. Sporadic foxing within text blocks which are otherwise clean and lightly but evenly tanned.
