Peter and the Wolf

£24.99

Product description

Blue boards with gilt lettering on the spine, which is lightly bruised at the head and tail. The dustjacket is also blue with the procession of Peter and the bird arriving in the village with the huntsmen, the wolf, grandfather and the cat running along both front and back. The back of the wrapper is mottled, the edges are rather worn and there is one 4cm closed tear and another 4cm tear down one edge. Another colour version of the procession runs over the paste-down and the endpaper at both front and back. There is a foreword by the conductor Serge Koussevitzky. The text is simple, in a calligraphic hand, and as each character is introduced, the appropriate musical theme is given. The full-page colour illustrations, as well as the pen and ink drawings have an appropriate naiveté to suit the tale. An unusual, attractive children's book.
