Sir Peter Courtney Quennell (1905-1993) was a historian, literary critic, essayist and poet. He published literary biographies of Baudelaire, Byron, Proust, and Shakespeare, among others. His first published poems appeared in an anthology when he was still at school.
This volume of poems was his second, the first having been published in 1922, but in the preface he describes these as "very early poems," which had previously been published elsewhere.
Hardback, no dust jacket. Some bumps and marks to boards. Foxing internally, but free of notes and inscriptions.
