1878 early reprint of the Moxon 1870 edition with nine full page tissue guarded steel engravings after Dore, and wood engraved head and tail pieces. Large folio 17" x 12 1/2" (432x319mm). Navy blue pebble-grain cloth, stamped in gilt and black, over bevelled boards. Slate-grey coated end papers. Cloth worn to extremities with damp stain to one side of both the upper and lower boards and outer margins of the end-papers, however not affected any plates or text. Nineteenth century heraldic bookplate to to upper pastedown. The engravings some of Dore's finest reminiscent of his London and Dante series.
