Edmund Lodge's Portraits include an engraving from "Authentic Pictures in the Galleries of the Nobility and the Public Collections of the Country" accompanied by a short essay on each person featured. This set comprises 8 volumes, numbered 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 11, in varying conditions. They are half-bound in leather with gilt lettering on the spines and gilt tooling on the covers. All are worn with bumping to corners and spines and discolouration. Volumes 2, 3, 6, 7 and 8 are still tightly bound. Volume 9 has one loose page. Volume 5 has lost part of the spine and volume 11 is in the worst condition with no spine, and the binding has become separated in places. All volumes show foxing and other marks.
