St Basil The Great
SPCK, London, First edition, 1879. pp232 plus end papers.
Brown cloth boards with black engravings; title in gold. Spine, with gold and black, has suffered over the years, with moderate to heavy fraying at top and tail. Hinges and boards scuffed, corners bruised and knocked. Paste down carries plate of Robert John Seaman, Priest, and another of St Augustine's College library at Walsingham in Norfolk.
Binding is very good and tight; all pages very secure. Hinges beginning to crack, page edges marked and discoloured - clearly a well used copy. Text is bright and pages are only lightly tanned. A few markings through the volume, in pencil.
A well produced book from the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, written by Richard Travers Smith BD vicar of St Bartholomews and published under the direction of the Tract Committee for the Fathers for English readers series.
