Publisher: B.T. Batsford, London, spring 1938, 2nd edition with 3 colour and 415 other photographs by the author. Hardback, 363 pages plus fold-out map of Suffolk, profusely illustrated with 3 colour and 415 b/w photographs and drawings, no dustjacket. The cover in light brown cloth boards with gilt titling to spine, is in very good condition for its age with no significant shelfwear or bumping and with just a couple of small stains on the front. Internally the book is in very good, clean and bright condition commensurate with age. Medium tanning to endpapers and light foxing spots to first few and last few pages and to page block edges. Small, neat pencil inscription to half title page and neat pen inscriptions to front and reverse of ffep. An interesting Oct 1961 newspaper article (Lecterns Observed) has been attached (at top and bottom) to front paste-down. A truly sumptuous and fascinating old book in very good condition, wonderfully and profusely illustrated, which will appeal not only to lovers of Suffolk and its unique churches but also to all enthusiasts of great church architecture - with the added bonus of a large and attractive fold-out map of Suffolk showing the location of all the churches referred to.
