The Anglicanism of William Laud [First edition, 1947]

£14.99

Product description

Hardback with red boards, by the Reverend E C E Bourne. Published by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, London. First edition, 1947.

William Laud (1573-1645) was Archbishop of Canterbury from 1633 until his execution on the orders of parliament in 1645. The rules he imposed on Church of England ritual brought it closer to Catholicism, angered the Puritans, and left a legacy that influenced “high church” practices.

Hardback with dust jacket. Jacket is clipped and faded at the spine, with several chips and larger losses. Endpapers and jacket have some foxing. Boards are a little warped, but the book is in very good condition internally, with no notes or inscriptions.
