The Badminton Library of Sports and Pastimes: Shooting - Moor & Marsh

£39.99

Product description

358 pp, xii. Good, approaching Very Good. Brown pictorial cloth covers, clean with some minor rubbing and marks. Small indent to front bottom edge, and slightly frayed corners. Spine clean, in good order, bumping to top and tail. Some foxing and spotting to the endpapers, which also have previous owner and seller writings (ink and pencil). The block, leaves and many delightful illustrations are essentially clean however. Binding remains in good order.

Taken from the preface ........... "At the time when the Badminton Library was started no modern encyclopaedia existed to which the inexperienced man, who sought guidance in the practice of the various British Sports and Pastimes, could turn for information. Some books there were on Hunting, some on Racing, some on Lawn Tennis, some on Fishing, and so on; but one Library, or succession of volumes, which treated of the Sports and Pastimes indulged in by Englishmen - and women - was wanting. The Badminton Library was produced to supply the want.".
