The Bear that Wasn't by Frank Tashlin: First Edition, 1946

£9.99

Product description

Beautifully illustrated tale told with much humour and with a deeper meaning than is at first apparent. Hardback, First Edition published by John Murray, London in 1946. Condition Fair, commensurate with age. The binding is reasonably sound although not all the pages are actually attached to the spine they are all contained within the cover and none of the pages are unattached, they are all present and sewn within the covers. The boards are somewhat tatty and have sellotape up the spine and around the edges holding the price-clipped dustjacket in place, (see images). There is some staining and one or two small tears, the top and bottom of the spine are quite worn and rubbed. The top and bottom edges of the covers are quite worn in places. There are two neat, personal inscriptions inside the front cover and on the first free end page. The dustjacket has been (probably quite neatly at the time) sellotaped to the book, so can not actually be fully removed without causing damage to the actual boards. Inside, the pages are actually very clean, there are some very small marks but on the whole the text and images are clear and very legible. Made and printed in Great Britain by Butler and Tanner Ltd in Frome.
