The Big Six

£14.99

Product description

The ninth book in Arthur Ransome's much loved series of stories about the school-holiday adventures of children, mostly in the Lake District and the Norfolk Broads. One of the series published by Jonathan Cape with the characteristic dust jackets in one primary colour and black and white. Contains numerous illustrations, including a map on the end papers. This is the second impression of the book first published in 1940.

The green book covers are in very good condition, with slight bumping to the corners and spine ends. The text block edges are darkened and tanned; the lower edge is unclipped and has some foxing spots; similar foxing on several front and rear leaves; inside page edges very lightly tanned; pages are soundly bound. The jacket is in only fair condition, with sections missing to the top and bottom of the spine and other edge and corner chips and tears, and large areas of browning. A former owner's name is written at the bottom of the front flap and there are some figures written on the rear cover.

The book could be of special interest to general readers and to members of one of the many Arthur Ransome appreciation societies around the world.
