And an introduction by Joseph Jacobs
J M Dent & Co, London; Dodd, Mead & Co, New York, 1896.
Hardback; 200 x 245 mm; cloth boards with titles in gold on spine and decorative front cover; xvi & 103 pages, top edge gilt, other edges irregularly cut; illustrated. No dust jacket.
The book is bowed and in fair condition. The binding is sound. The covers are grubby with a water stain on the back cover. The front and back matter are tanned. An inscription in black ink dated August 1964 on the recto of the front free endpaper. Some tanning internally.
The appeal of this book of the story of Job is likely to be the illustrations by Herbert Granville Fell (1872-1951), a painter, illustrator, and stained glass painter, in the Arts & Crafts style. The book may be a scarce item.
