The Book of Old Sundials & Their Mottoes - First Edition

£500.00

Product description

x, 103 pp. Ex-library, with stamps and markings, and labels pasted to front endpapers.

Original pictorial boards, the design by Jessie M. King exceptionally well-preserved, the only blemish to note the library Dewey number in white ink near the bottom of the spine.

Top edge gilt, right-hand and bottom edges rough cut. Eight illustrations in colour by Alfred Rawlings tipped-in and with paper guards, the illustrations and guards all present. Plus thirty-six black & white sketches of famous sundials by Warrington Hogg.

Corners and edges slightly rubbed and bumped, slight shelf-wear to boards, some loss to ribbon bookmark, the author's name added in ink to the title page (not, we believe, by the author himself), that and the library markings apart the contents in lovely clean condition.

Dust jacket chipped along edges and with Dewey classification in ink near the bottom of the spine, the jacket now however in a removable protective cover.

Weight 375g. Size 19 x 13.4 x 2.2 cm.
