The Casket, A Miscellany, Consisting of Unpublished Poems

£100.00

Product description

Published by subscription, this 1829 anthology of unpublished poems includes work by Byron and Wordsworth. There is also a poem by the Revd Henry Milman who was the professor of poetry at Oxford and later the Dean of St Paul's Cathedral. The name Lady Milman appears in the list of subscribers to the book and an inscription opposite the title page states that she gifted her copy to C. Carr in the year of its publication.

The book is bound in decorated hardboard covers with leather corners and spine. The spine is badly worn and the lower section is torn but still attached. The edges of the boards are chipped and the upper corners bumped. Internally there is some marking to the earlier pages but generally its condition is clean and bright.

A rare volume.
