Containing Over Two Hundred Coats Of Arms Taken From Those At Powderham Castle, With Explanatory Notes. Edited By The Lady Courtenay. The Introduction by Evelyn Courtenay states "The following plates ... are copies of the shields represented in the Dining Hall of Powderham Castle, and are intended to serve both as a key to their arrangement, and also a brief record of the family. In this we were continually and most ably assisted by the late Sir Henry Ponsonby, and the late Mr Edmund Boyle..." Bound in red cloth and quarter leather - unfortunately the leather spine is totally missing and there is some scuffing and wear to remaining leather. Contents are good and sound. Gilt title and armorial crest on front board. With 13 double colour plates and one single plate, showing French and English lines. Offsetting/browning to both endpapers. WITH A GIFT INSCRIPTION BY EVELYN COURTENAY to her cousin Beatrix Wingfield Digby, dated May 1910, on the front free endpaper.
