The Holy Bible (family bible, preface Rev J Eadie) 1862

£30.00

Product description

Family bible published 1862, with the commentaries of Scott and Henry, and containing also many thousand critical and explanatory notes, selected from the great standard authors of Europe and America

The bible has lost the first few endpapers and preface and opens up on the contents page, but the publisher and date is on The Biblical Cyclopedia near the back of the book. There is also a preface by Dr Eadie.

The bible is bound in black, blind tooled leather, but this is in quite poor condition as it has a large piece missing from the lower spine and has begun to peel back from the edges (hence low price). There is also some slight damage to the back of the bible. The boards are still attached but are quite loose at back and front

Some of the page edges have damp staining on them but most of the many pages are clean. the page edges are gilt but there is some loss to that.

Courier needed due to weight of book.
